Parenting Book

My wonderful mother came to visit this week and brought with her (and highly recommended) this parenting book, The Blessing of a Skinned Knee by Wendy Mogel, PhD. I cannot put it down and have already gained so much wisdom from Dr. Mogel's experience, as a clinical psychologist and educator.

She cites this quote from someone simply referred to as "a modern educator," and it really stuck with me: "Try to see your child as a seed that came in a packet without a label. Your job is to provide the right environment and nutrients and to pull the weeds. You can't decide what kind of flower you'll get or in which season it will bloom." It really reinforces my role as a mother!
