The Little House

My favorite children's book is The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton. I loved it as a child and I love it now. The story, first published in 1942, is the tale of a precious home in the country and how she became sad as the city grew up around her. Then after years of neglect, she finally found a new owner and a new home, out in the country again. Although written so long ago, I feel like this book is still a pertinent tale of urban sprawl and the allure of the quiet, peaceful life in the country.
